Research/Education

Kevin is the Director of Dive Operations at Subtidal Diving. He gained a BSc (Hons) in Applied Marine Biology from Heriot-Watt University in 2009 and an MRes in Marine and Freshwater Ecology and Environmental Management from the University of Glasgow in 2011. He finished his PhD at Heriot-Watt University in 2019. He has acted as the Director of Research at St Abbs Marine Station for the past 11 years. Kevin’s research focuses on the impacts of natural and man-made stressors on marine organisms and habitats with particular interest in fisheries and the effects of electromagnetic fields from offshore renewable energy on marine species. He has extensive scientific dive experience around the UK at sea and in lakes, and recreational dives around the Mediterranean.

Research/Education

Kristina is the Dive Operations Manager at Subtidal Diving. She graduated from the University of Bremen (Germany) with a BSc in Biology in 2015 and an MSc in Marine Biology in 2018. She finished her PhD at the Alfred Wegener Institute (Germany) in 2022 before she started working as a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Edinburgh. Her research focusses on the effect of climate change on cold-water corals and other local marine species. She has conducted research and scientific dives in Chile, Germany and the UK and has extensive recreational diving experience in cold waters, both in the sea and in lakes.

Research/Education

Petra is the Managing Director at Subtidal Diving. She graduated from Eötvös Loránd University (Hungary) with an MSc in Marine Biology in 2011 and completed her PhD at the same university in 2025. She has worked as a research assistant at the University of Heidelberg (Germany) and has been the facility manager of St Abbs Marine Station for the last 10 years. Her research focuses on the effect of offshore renewable energy on local marine species and ecosystems, and the effect of climate change on the microbiomes of coastal species. Petra has extensive diving experience in Hungary and the UK.

Research/Education

Daniel is the Divemaster at Subtidal Diving. He graduated from the Napier University (Sighthill) with a BSc in Marine and Freshwater Biology in 2023 and an MSc in International Marine Science (Biology) in 2024. His research dissertation focused on the effects of salinity on the feeding behaviours of amphipod crustaceans (Parhyale hawaiensis). He has participated in conservation efforts involving seagrass species and European oysters across Scotland. He has been dry suit diving since 2024, having completed his Advanced Open Water, Rescue, and Divemaster at Subtidal Diving.
